1. Introductions, Love Story, and Becoming Grandparents
Nancy Rose and Sam introduce themselves, share how they met as teenagers, reflect on their life together through marriage and military moves, and talk about the joy of becoming grandparents.
2. Rheumatoid Arthritis, Early Fitness, and Losing Momentum
They discuss both being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, how they rebuilt through running and kickboxing, and how career demands, parenting, and life gradually pulled them away from exercise.
3. Returning to Fitness and Recommitting Together
The conversation shifts to why they returned, the mental resistance they felt, the value of structure and accountability, and how exercise began improving not just their bodies but also their mindset, sleep, and daily life.
4. Humbling Beginnings, Small Wins, and Personal Progress
Nancy and Sam describe what it felt like to start over, how hard and humbling it was, and the moments that showed them the program was working—from building strength again to noticing meaningful everyday improvements.
5. Coaching, Accountability, and Training as a Couple
They talk about how individualized coaching, showing up on hard days, and training side by side strengthened both their consistency and their relationship, while allowing each person to work on what they specifically needed.
6. Performance, Life Impact, and Why the Journey Changed Everything
The final section covers how training improved work performance, mental health, resilience, family life, and confidence, ending with both of them reflecting on how this commitment changed their lives for the better.

Nancyrose, Sam Hernandez, welcome.
00:00:03:00 – 00:00:03:18
Thank you. Thank you
00:00:03:18 – 00:00:05:01
for being here.
00:00:05:03 – 00:00:05:17
Thanks for having us.
00:00:05:19 – 00:00:08:00
You guys know you got yourself into.
00:00:08:02 – 00:00:11:11
You know I love podcasts, so this is my first podcast.
00:00:11:11 – 00:00:15:23
Nancy Rose said we were doing it, and I was like, all right, let’s do it.
00:00:16:01 – 00:00:18:06
You’re going to be famous us now.
00:00:18:08 – 00:00:18:19
Right on.
00:00:18:21 – 00:00:35:02
This is the Bod Pod, and our focus is telling people the stories that are happening around the gym, giving people an insight to like who we are, how we do things. So let’s start with that piece. So, who are you?
00:00:35:04 – 00:00:37:02
How did you guys meet? How did we meet
00:00:37:04 – 00:00:37:20
Give me the rundown.
00:00:37:20 – 00:00:41:07
Well, I’m Nancy Rose, and we met when I was 15.
00:00:41:09 – 00:00:42:03
Yes.
00:00:42:05 – 00:00:43:13
So, high school sweethearts?
00:00:43:13 – 00:00:44:04
Yes.
00:00:44:04 – 00:00:44:20
Oh, man.
00:00:44:23 – 00:00:54:09
And Sam and I have been together a long time. So if I was going to describe me, I’d say Sam’s wife, mother three and a grandma. That’s who I am.
00:00:54:09 – 00:00:55:03
I’m
00:00:55:05 – 00:00:55:17
Sam.
00:00:55:19 – 00:01:01:03
I always say I’ve been a husband, a father, and now a grandpa.
00:01:01:03 – 00:01:08:00
But I’ve been a husband and, a dad all my life. I always tell everyone that because I’ve been at those things since I was 19 years old.
00:01:08:02 – 00:01:13:09
We took off to the military together. She followed me, and the rest is history.
00:01:13:09 – 00:01:15:05
Yeah. How far do you follow in the military?
00:01:15:09 – 00:01:16:06
We went to Virginia.
00:01:16:09 – 00:01:16:20
Okay,
00:01:16:20 – 00:01:20:15
yes, we went to Washington first, then Virginia, and then came back home.
00:01:20:21 – 00:01:24:07
Okay. And, grandparents now?
00:01:24:09 – 00:01:25:06
Yes. Yes.
00:01:25:11 – 00:01:26:06
Grandparents.
00:01:26:08 – 00:01:26:23
old?
00:01:27:01 – 00:01:29:00
five months. Five months old? Baby girl.
00:01:29:01 – 00:01:31:18
Probably the best era of our life.
00:01:31:23 – 00:01:32:06
Yeah.
00:01:32:11 – 00:01:33:20
Yes. It’s all right now.
00:01:34:00 – 00:01:37:07
Yeah. Is that a trip, or is it like, something that you were,
00:01:37:07 – 00:01:38:01
Ready for?
00:01:38:01 – 00:01:41:21
No, not ready for. Absolutely. A trip like
00:01:41:21 – 00:01:43:04
people told us this is.
00:01:43:06 – 00:01:49:16
You were going to love being a grandparent. This is going to be the best time of your life, but you don’t know it till you’re in it. And then you’re like, oh, yeah, it is.
00:01:49:18 – 00:01:51:19
having, a child
00:01:51:19 – 00:01:52:08
who’s now,
00:01:52:08 – 00:01:54:19
truly right, reach that next date and then also
00:01:54:19 – 00:02:01:10
been grandparents, like, what is that kind of, like, stage in development been like, you’re like, oh man, this is different.
00:02:01:12 – 00:02:07:14
I think you you get to see a lot more than you saw when you were have your own kids.
00:02:07:16 – 00:02:27:16
And I think that’s the biggest thing because I just stare at her and I’m like, wow. Like you’re it’s so different now. Like you, you see all their behaviors change every day. They look the way they look at you and you’re just like, well, I think you miss out on a lot of that. Like when you’re young and you’re, you know, just trying to get by and be and learn how to be a parent.
00:02:27:16 – 00:02:30:03
I think that’s that’s really what happens,
00:02:30:03 – 00:02:44:08
when you become a grandparent and you’re like, I could sit back now and watch it all. And, yeah, it’s it’s it’s amazing. Watch your milestone. I don’t like missing anything. That’s why I, I always rush home every day. I’m always. I gotta go see what she’s doing. So
00:02:44:11 – 00:02:47:01
and that’s the part that I love about,
00:02:47:01 – 00:02:55:22
seeing you guys when we’ve had these conversations, you know, already on other areas of life, but like the things that you guys are doing for yourselves, right.
00:02:55:23 – 00:03:01:18
In the gym, things that I see you guys on a weekly basis, like knowing. Right. You guys are grandparents now,
00:03:01:18 – 00:03:06:03
the gift that that is for your child and your grandkids, right? Because
00:03:06:03 – 00:03:15:03
the story I hear so many times from people
00:03:08:17 – 00:03:15:04
are they’re coming in and either they’re about to be a grandparent or they become a grandparent, or they’re getting later in that state.
00:03:15:04 – 00:03:15:17
And it’s like,
00:03:15:17 – 00:03:17:04
I can’t play with my grandkids.
00:03:17:04 – 00:03:25:10
that is a really hard thing to like for some people to come to terms with that they let things go too far. And that’s the part that I love seeing in you guys.
00:03:25:10 – 00:03:31:20
Like, you guys are so proactive in making sure that you’re able to be who you want to be
00:03:31:22 – 00:03:34:01
for these people that you love around you.
00:03:34:04 – 00:03:39:23
yeah, I would I was at a point where I have rheumatoid arthritis and so my wrists
00:03:40:02 – 00:03:40:13
didn’t work
00:03:40:13 – 00:03:43:21
and I was so scared I would not be able to hold my grandbaby.
00:03:43:23 – 00:03:48:18
But coming here and doing this and building back up my body, I can hold. I have zero pain.
00:03:48:18 – 00:03:52:14
It’s amazing. I literally didn’t think I’d be able to hold her and I can
00:03:52:18 – 00:03:57:00
take me through that story. I actually went back through, like our written notes. We sat down
00:03:57:00 – 00:03:58:21
take me through that journey of
00:03:58:21 – 00:04:00:11
your life through fitness.
00:04:00:11 – 00:04:04:12
Right? Because you were very active, right, for most of your life.
00:04:04:12 – 00:04:06:22
help people understand because it’s a very relatable story.
00:04:06:22 – 00:04:08:15
how do we get to where we are now?
00:04:08:17 – 00:04:12:16
So our story is interesting because Sam actually got rheumatoid arthritis.
00:04:12:16 – 00:04:22:11
We call it RA first. I got it one year later. It’s a debilitating disorder disease, and it destroys your body to the point where you can’t walk. You can’t dress yourself.
00:04:22:13 – 00:04:26:08
how long did you guys know something was wrong before you guys figured it out?
00:04:26:13 – 00:04:32:19
I was in college, and, I woke up a few mornings, and I was just completely swollen.
00:04:32:19 – 00:04:48:18
I couldn’t bend my fingers, couldn’t unlock my knees, and I’m like, I was 23 and I just 23. And I would get up and I’d just be like, this is weird. And I was like, maybe I’m just getting old and and, I honestly and I and I didn’t and I didn’t say anything in it and,
00:04:48:18 – 00:04:55:14
finally I just got to the point where even at being young and still active, it would take me a half a day just to loosen up.
00:04:55:14 – 00:04:59:14
And I think that’s when I finally realized something’s not right. And
00:04:59:14 – 00:05:03:19
we ended up going to the doctor, and then one year later, I was studying
00:05:04:01 – 00:05:10:01
it is one of those that flies under the radar, because a lot of times, the initial things that doctors are testing for, they don’t see it.
00:05:10:04 – 00:05:10:14
Yeah. It’s
00:05:10:14 – 00:05:12:14
like, no, everything looks good. And you’re like, no,
00:05:12:16 – 00:05:13:20
something’s wrong. Yeah.
00:05:14:01 – 00:05:16:20
So okay, so you got to both. Yeah. You both.
00:05:16:20 – 00:05:19:15
Yeah. 20. And we had just had a baby.
00:05:19:19 – 00:05:27:08
Our second child. Yeah. And I remember when I first got diagnosed, I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t dress myself. And I was trying to take care of two kids.
00:05:27:10 – 00:05:41:17
So it was at that point, once I got better and got on a medication that worked, I was like, okay, now I’m going to run. He was already working out. He’s very active in the military, ran. And so I said, I’m going to do it with you. I’m going to do that also. And so that’s when we both got into running
00:05:41:19 – 00:05:42:19
and then kickboxing.
00:05:42:21 – 00:05:52:12
And then we were we were doing the marathons. I was teaching kickboxing every day. We would run six miles and then I’d go teach a kickboxing class.
00:05:52:15 – 00:05:54:05
That’s awesome. That’s awesome.
00:05:54:05 – 00:05:55:10
Oh, we did a lot. Yeah.
00:05:55:14 – 00:05:56:10
All in
00:05:56:12 – 00:05:58:01
we went, right. We were
00:05:58:03 – 00:05:59:07
okay. Until when?
00:05:59:07 – 00:06:09:12
Late 30s. Once I got really involved in my career, being a lawyer and operating and running my own business, I fell off the workout wagon.
00:06:09:16 – 00:06:11:08
And you were fired by that time, correct?
00:06:11:08 – 00:06:12:10
I was, yeah.
00:06:12:10 – 00:06:14:08
I’ve been a fireman since 2006.
00:06:14:12 – 00:06:25:02
I think more than anything, I just got complacent. I just got comfortable, and I thought I would have reserves, you know, I’m like, oh, I worked out all these years, so it’s going to take care of me for the next so many years.
00:06:25:02 – 00:06:32:01
And I think that’s kind of how I went off. Really. Yeah. It does it doesn’t it. You’re like, oh, I’m still good. And then yeah it doesn’t last as long.
00:06:32:01 – 00:06:35:18
Life happens. But it happened and we were not working out.
00:06:36:00 – 00:06:42:19
that’s one of the things I actually tell a lot of people when they come in the first day because everybody comes in motivated like, oh, I’m so excited.
00:06:43:00 – 00:07:02:03
Yeah. I’m like, yeah, that sounds great. But just so you know, at some point life is going to happen. Like this is going to get hard. So let’s talk about what we’re going to do when that happens. Not if that happens but when when it’s like the job thing, the family thing, the health thing, the finances thing. Like let’s plan on that.
00:07:02:03 – 00:07:14:19
That way we’re ready for it when it happens. And we can roll with that season. And yeah, yeah, because it is like you guys, we’re working out all the time. Yeah, right. Like happens.
00:07:14:21 – 00:07:18:05
how much time went by in that season of like
00:07:18:07 – 00:07:19:07
school more or less
00:07:19:12 – 00:07:22:01
I would say a good five years.
00:07:22:01 – 00:07:22:08
Yeah.
00:07:22:13 – 00:07:24:04
maybe seven okay.
00:07:24:04 – 00:07:26:17
Yeah. Yeah. It was very
00:07:26:17 – 00:07:33:12
oh yeah we’ll work out for a month, we’ll go for jogs. And kind of it was just really, you know, like that
00:07:33:15 – 00:07:35:05
where you guys are always trying to do it together
00:07:35:08 – 00:07:36:22
when you’d had those cycles of on and off.
00:07:36:22 – 00:07:43:22
Typically. Yes. Because when I was teaching kickboxing, he would take my classes if he wasn’t at work,
00:07:44:00 – 00:07:47:17
and we had a really strong group of individuals that would come do it with us.
00:07:47:19 – 00:07:52:10
And then he still worked out at work. So I think he was more active than I was.
00:07:52:12 – 00:08:04:23
but we we typically love to work out together. We run together. We would go to the gym together and do my classes together. Yeah. Yeah. I think it became more of like, just kind of like when we could do it.
00:08:05:01 – 00:08:29:16
We. But we didn’t go out of our way to make time for it. It was just kind of like, oh, maybe we should do something. But if something better came, we would definitely go do that. Yeah. Dangle the carrot. Yes. There’s a lot of options that we might take. The other. Yes, yes, we definitely, went that way, but but for those first, you know, ten, 12 years that we were going hard.
00:08:29:18 – 00:08:48:18
That was our number one thing. So, yeah, I don’t know, I guess life and then maybe a little burnout and. Yeah, yeah, there’s a lot of things that came in between that. But I think definitely when we got to
00:08:41:21 – 00:08:48:18
our like around 40. Yeah. Yeah, we were kind of just going off of what, what would you rather do this or this?
00:08:48:20 – 00:08:50:01
So
00:08:50:03 – 00:08:50:20
like you said,
00:08:50:20 – 00:08:53:04
there’s a lot more fun things to do. Yes.
00:08:53:06 – 00:08:53:17
Yeah.
00:08:53:19 – 00:08:56:02
And then then go into exercise,
00:08:56:02 – 00:08:59:19
I remind people that like from a biological standpoint,
00:08:59:19 – 00:09:01:02
when you go to work at home,
00:09:01:02 – 00:09:03:06
your body is basically, I’m going to die,
00:09:03:09 – 00:09:04:09
right? Like it’s
00:09:04:14 – 00:09:13:08
sending signals, like you’re going to die. You should stop right breathing heavy heart rate going up, sweating like those are all things that your body’s like.
00:09:13:10 – 00:09:37:17
I am not at ease anymore. Like, if I continue doing this, I’m going to die. Yeah. So, like, it’s interesting for you guys even. Right. You guys had also the bond piece, which is honestly one of the hardest things that couples struggle with just being on separate pages on that. Yeah. I think the other side that that comes along with that though is when you’ve done it for a long time,
00:09:37:21 – 00:09:38:17
it doesn’t.
00:09:38:18 – 00:09:40:04
We try and put it on autopilot
00:09:40:07 – 00:09:43:17
and that that will work until enough other things. And what happens.
00:09:43:20 – 00:09:44:07
Yes.
00:09:44:08 – 00:09:44:14
Right.
00:09:44:16 – 00:09:45:05
Definitely.
00:09:45:07 – 00:09:51:05
at that point right. You’re talking kids that are getting older, you know, getting to different ages and
00:09:51:07 – 00:09:51:19
stuff. Yes.
00:09:51:19 – 00:09:53:14
Like you don’t want to miss out on
00:09:53:14 – 00:09:55:01
that. Exactly. Yeah.
00:09:55:05 – 00:10:03:11
You have to juggle it all. And so then that lots of excuses. Yeah. It doesn’t become a priority. Yeah. It’s a lot of excuses get in the way.
00:10:03:14 – 00:10:17:16
I just had a guy, last week who started with us, who’s an ER doc, and I was actually when I was speaking with him, I was thinking about you, because we’re breaking down.
00:10:17:18 – 00:10:37:11
Okay? Why are you not doing this on your own already? So he had similar, like he had an active background. Not like you’ve never been to gym before, but it came down to he had, I think a two year old kid. And some are tough. I’m like, okay, this makes a lot of sense. Yeah. You have zero capacity to think about this anymore.
00:10:37:13 – 00:10:40:04
And time is also a major premium.
00:10:40:06 – 00:10:40:13
Yes.
00:10:40:13 – 00:10:58:16
So now you have these major conflicts of like, okay, I know someone or something needs to have time. This I don’t want to waste my time at the gym, but I don’t want to think about. And that’s the part that I was thinking about. I was like, yep, lawyers, service positions like fire, military, police and medical positions.
00:10:58:17 – 00:11:00:22
It is a mentally demanding job.
00:11:01:00 – 00:11:09:17
if nothing else, you need someone else to put that time in to make sure that you’re not wasting it, but also making sure that it’s makes sense in your brain. Yeah.
00:11:09:18 – 00:11:21:18
it’s so easy to go home when you work a stressful job and you work all day and spend all day in an office for me and fire department for him, it’s so easy to go home and sit on the couch and just be done.
00:11:21:19 – 00:11:28:17
Yeah, but yet I’ve never felt better on the days where I don’t go home, I come here, yeah, work out.
00:11:28:17 – 00:11:31:19
And then it’s it’s it’s a thrive. It’s a, it’s
00:11:31:23 – 00:11:35:02
there’s nothing better than that. But you forget when you’re not doing it.
00:11:35:02 – 00:11:38:23
So I think we’re going on right about a year now.
00:11:39:01 – 00:11:39:23
Okay. So
00:11:40:01 – 00:11:41:21
tell me about your experience.
00:11:41:23 – 00:11:48:07
Let’s do this separately too. So Sam, what did you expect coming in? Because Nancy Rose kind of drag you.
00:11:48:07 – 00:12:04:23
Well, I mean, how long do we put it off or talk about it for? I think we we talked since I met you, so. Yeah. So we had a good window in there where we discussed it and still came up with things in our head like, oh, we got to wait till our son’s football is over, or we got to wait for this.
00:12:04:23 – 00:12:07:09
And and so we had these, you know,
00:12:07:13 – 00:12:23:07
ideas of coming. And then I was like, I got a gym membership that I’ve used six times in 14 years. But, you know, why do I need to go to another gym? And then, I think once I got over all that and then we, we we had discussed it a lot.
00:12:23:07 – 00:12:40:11
And what we do a lot of things together. Anyways, a lot of our hobbies are with each other. So, I think that when we, finally decided to come in, I was like, all right. And, I think being uncomfortable is good, you know, it’s good. It’s good for you. And, I think when I came in, I was like,
00:12:40:11 – 00:12:47:22
you know, not being too resistant to it. And once I, you know, got a little comfort in the, in the workouts and I think,
00:12:47:22 – 00:12:49:23
when I wanted to not come
00:12:49:23 – 00:12:51:11
was because I didn’t,
00:12:51:16 – 00:12:55:04
you know, want to learn a new workout or a new stretch or a new this or any of that,
00:12:55:06 – 00:12:59:03
once I got over that, it was like, all right, I can’t wait to come.
00:12:59:06 – 00:13:15:02
And I think that’s been the biggest thing for me is like, you know, I want to come my three days or however many days I come during the week and and now I look forward to it versus being like, what is this stretch? What is this? What is this move that I’ve never done in my life before? And
00:13:15:02 – 00:13:35:04
once I got my mind around that and then and then all the benefits from it, as far as you know, it’s just not appearance. And that’s a good thing, you know, your clothes and stuff, that’s all good stuff. But, you know, for me, it’s, it’s helped mentally, sleep, diet. So there’s a lot of good things.
00:13:35:09 – 00:13:52:22
tell me more about that thought process, because this is the thing that we hear over and over and over again. I remind our team of authors, most people, when they sit down with us for the first time, the main thing is like, whether it’s I want to lose weight, they just they want to look better, feel better is usually in there too.
00:13:52:22 – 00:13:56:05
But it’s pretty big. They yeah, it’s usually like I want to lose weight,
00:13:56:05 – 00:14:10:17
a year down the road, two years down the road, five years down the road, that is never what people tell us they are the most happy about. Yeah, of course everybody wants that. But the things that people tell us over and over and over again say, I can do this and I can do this.
00:14:10:17 – 00:14:19:02
Like, like, yeah, we literally had a client tell us this week, her win that she’s super excited about is she thinks that her toenails are
00:14:19:04 – 00:14:20:02
wow.
00:14:20:04 – 00:14:20:17
Which is like,
00:14:20:20 – 00:14:21:11
yeah,
00:14:21:13 – 00:14:23:04
I don’t know her. So I don’t know the
00:14:23:04 – 00:14:24:16
full maybe just the
00:14:24:19 – 00:14:25:19
flexibility, but I’m like
00:14:25:19 – 00:14:29:02
the things that you don’t imagine like people are even realize.
00:14:29:02 – 00:14:29:11
Yeah.
00:14:29:12 – 00:14:31:08
So tell me about that from your side.
00:14:31:08 – 00:14:32:18
of course we all want to look better,
00:14:32:18 – 00:14:34:03
right? Yes. Things
00:14:34:04 – 00:14:35:23
like you’re noticing in daily life.
00:14:36:01 – 00:14:49:08
Daily life is just the mental. My, honestly, that’s it’s when you feel better and you exercise and your mind gets better. I think it’s, it’s like a you’re thinking clear. You’re making good decisions.
00:14:49:08 – 00:15:12:03
You’re making better decisions for your for yourself all the time. And I think I got away from that for a long time. And, it’s, you know, I’m it’s always a work in progress, but it’s definitely my mental that it’s that this has changed the most for me and it’s made me address it and it’s made me, you know, be like, hey, I, I can, I can do a lot of things.
00:15:12:04 – 00:15:31:00
And working out is, is a part of it. And as long as I continue to do this, then I can change a lot of things. And my in my way of thinking, you know, it’s it’s trying to not be. So, like I said, resistant to things. No one likes to be uncomfortable and all those little things. And now I’m just like, hey, this this is feels good.
00:15:31:00 – 00:15:34:12
Like, you know. Yeah, it’s gets a lot of negative out of you.
00:15:34:12 – 00:15:36:16
It’s easy to dissociate
00:15:36:16 – 00:15:49:13
how good you feel mentally as a result. And I think part of that is the time delay that happens. Right. So yeah generally we think of okay, I do this thing and I get this result like five seconds
00:15:49:15 – 00:15:50:05
later. And that’s
00:15:50:07 – 00:15:51:04
generally what we’re looking
00:15:51:06 – 00:15:51:09
for.
00:15:51:11 – 00:15:52:17
Yeah. Right. Yeah.
00:15:52:19 – 00:16:00:12
Like today’s society. But reality is like you know you work out and then you sleep better and then you wake up with more energy and then you think better.
00:16:00:14 – 00:16:00:21
Yeah.
00:16:00:21 – 00:16:02:01
It’s this like
00:16:02:03 – 00:16:03:19
exactly, you know, trickle in. Yeah,
00:16:03:22 – 00:16:06:01
yeah. All these things that lead to the next thing.
00:16:06:01 – 00:16:12:20
over time though. Like like we said, like you dissociate the connection from this to this.
00:16:12:22 – 00:16:17:18
Yeah. Until you get so far away I mean what happened I don’t I feel the way you know.
00:16:17:20 – 00:16:18:11
Yeah. Yeah.
00:16:18:13 – 00:16:36:13
Like I actually that’s one of the things that for me is, is a huge part. Like I know that if I’m stressed and just mentally worn down, which sounds like the opposite, I can be just relaxed, like, no, like I need to get away from a computer and get away from people
00:16:36:15 – 00:16:38:13
and
00:16:38:15 – 00:16:38:20
be like, alone and work out.
00:16:39:01 – 00:16:41:13
And I know that will reset.
00:16:41:15 – 00:16:42:06
Yeah.
00:16:42:08 – 00:16:43:19
And I think
00:16:43:21 – 00:16:47:01
there’s so many people out there that,
00:16:47:03 – 00:16:51:09
that, you know, haven’t had the right exposure to exercise for them
00:16:51:11 – 00:16:55:08
or they’ve just never been that type of person.
00:16:55:08 – 00:16:55:15
Yeah.
00:16:55:15 – 00:17:00:15
They don’t even realize, like the door, what’s behind that door and how good they can feel.
00:17:00:18 – 00:17:01:22
how about you, Nancy Rose?
00:17:02:00 – 00:17:02:14
So your
00:17:02:18 – 00:17:05:22
expectations coming in and, Oh, that
00:17:06:02 – 00:17:18:21
I just knew we needed to get back on a health journey. And when I met you and learned about what you offered, I was like, this might be it. This, this semi-private lesson workout. It might be it for us.
00:17:18:21 – 00:17:24:22
and so I really just wanted to get back into it and see if we could do it, because I felt like, I don’t know if we can
00:17:25:00 – 00:17:25:05
get
00:17:25:10 – 00:17:25:15
such.
00:17:25:15 – 00:17:26:21
Yeah. It’s it’s so hard.
00:17:27:01 – 00:17:31:00
and it’s hard to commit your time to it. And then I already done it.
00:17:31:02 – 00:17:39:03
So I know how much work out put into it. So I was like, do I really want to do that again? I don’t know, but then I did. I committed and I’m like, okay, we’re in.
00:17:39:05 – 00:17:48:01
And but once we start something we’re going to do it. And so once we started, it was hard. It’s like baby step. I was like a little baby coming in and starting from scratch.
00:17:48:06 – 00:17:49:16
Was that hard? Because
00:17:49:16 – 00:17:50:03
yes.
00:17:50:06 – 00:17:56:03
And a lot of times it is, is like you have this expectation of who I used to be or
00:17:56:06 – 00:17:56:11
how I.
00:17:56:11 – 00:17:58:07
Yes, definitely. And
00:17:58:09 – 00:18:09:12
honestly, that’s where a lot of people, when they do it on their own. When you’ve had that long layoff, it doesn’t matter how long it could be a year, five years, ten years. You go back to like, oh, this is how I used to do it.
00:18:09:14 – 00:18:10:10
Yeah.
00:18:10:12 – 00:18:11:05
You’re not there, right?
00:18:11:08 – 00:18:14:01
No. And that’s where we have to take a position and like,
00:18:14:01 – 00:18:15:23
hey, we will get there.
00:18:16:01 – 00:18:30:00
And I know mentally like that connection is there, but this is not worth it. And what happens when you do that? Wait either when we let people go there or you do it on your own, is you end up getting hurt and then we end up getting in this cycle of like start, stop. This doesn’t work.
00:18:30:05 – 00:18:30:22
Yeah, work.
00:18:31:00 – 00:18:32:09
And I’m motivated. So
00:18:32:12 – 00:18:55:13
it’s humbling. It’s humbling because I used to be able to do push ups and then you walk in here and I can’t even hold myself up on the ground so that it’s it’s difficult to see yourself not be able to do things, but knowing that I can build back up, then you go through this process, you trust the programs, you trust your coaches, and all of a sudden you can lift weights and then you see a little muscle, and then you start feeling proud of yourself.
00:18:55:17 – 00:19:01:07
And so that was really cool for me to see the transformation. It that’s the old me.
00:19:01:09 – 00:19:05:16
Yeah, yeah. Was there a moment where
00:19:05:18 – 00:19:18:12
you you felt like, oh man, I am in like this. Is it like, how long did that take for you?
00:19:13:01 – 00:19:18:13
it actually didn’t take me very long, I would say. I would say three programs.
00:19:18:13 – 00:19:31:15
And so about three months in, I was all in. And there was one particular moment and it was a little further in. It was toward the summer. And Carlos had said, you should try to train for the Spartan Run.
00:19:31:19 – 00:19:32:07
Oh, yeah.
00:19:32:07 – 00:19:40:01
And I was all in. And then I had to hang and do the pull up bar. And I was like, there’s no way I can’t hold myself up.
00:19:40:01 – 00:19:46:12
I’m going to fall. I’m going to slip off the bar. And I could do it. And I was like, oh my gosh, wait a minute, it’s working.
00:19:46:14 – 00:19:46:22
Yeah, yeah.
00:19:47:03 – 00:19:48:23
So that was cool
00:19:49:01 – 00:19:51:18
and so good because that’s not what you came here for.
00:19:51:22 – 00:19:59:01
No. Yeah, I just came here to get back in a healthy rhythm with him, and I wanted him to do it.
00:19:59:06 – 00:20:02:22
I really wanted Sam to be back in this.
00:20:02:22 – 00:20:04:11
What would you say it like? Was there a moment?
00:20:04:17 – 00:20:09:17
You know what, I. I usually take the little. I would take the little victories,
00:20:09:20 – 00:20:16:04
I’m not. I’m, I always tell her this, but I’m. I’m more of the, like, small victory guy. Like, I’m not a big moment guy.
00:20:16:06 – 00:20:19:00
But, I think, honestly, like,
00:20:19:00 – 00:20:37:16
feeling like a difference, like, in my legs because somebody, whoever did my survey obviously had something against my leg. Right? And then all of a sudden I was like, oh, this is kind of nice to have some muscles in your legs. And, I think once I got comfortable and confident with, you know, doing that, those I didn’t do those types of exercises.
00:20:37:18 – 00:20:44:03
You know, I do curls and bench press and, and, and ran, you know, and that was my workout
00:20:44:04 – 00:20:54:12
and it worked, you know, but there’s a lot of other things that went into it. And I think for me, the biggest thing was, you know, doing all the leg stuff and being like, oh, this is kind of nice.
00:20:54:12 – 00:20:59:05
You know, having been I was, you know, not flexible at all. And,
00:20:59:11 – 00:21:03:10
that’s what really, I appreciated so much about the program
00:21:03:10 – 00:21:04:15
the recognition like,
00:21:04:18 – 00:21:17:04
wherever in that, you know, when you guys check this out and assess, assesses, you see things and they hit things perfectly that I needed to address.
00:21:17:04 – 00:21:25:15
And I’m like, okay, I got this. So I think that’s been the moment for me. Like, you know, just just doing those things that I never do.
00:21:25:15 – 00:21:27:06
And that’s the reality is
00:21:27:06 – 00:21:31:05
it doesn’t matter how much, you know, like all of us included,
00:21:31:07 – 00:21:36:11
you will go back to doing the same things that you like and that you’ve done for a while.
00:21:36:11 – 00:21:43:09
Yeah. And oftentimes the longer that that happens, the further is away from what you, what you actually need. Yeah.
00:21:43:09 – 00:22:00:16
we talk about like the science the training is understanding what what movements and why. And like what’s going on with your body and and analyzing like things that are dysfunctional and that kind of thing. But the art is meeting someone’s needs and wants at the same time.
00:22:00:18 – 00:22:22:09
And that is not oftentimes easy to do, because in most cases, it’s like this. There’s some overlap between what you want and what you need. Yeah. But it’s it’s very rarely like perfectly overlap. You know, that’s honestly it’s a lot of like where assessment comes into play. Okay. We want to give you what you want. We’re going to let your body tell us what it needs.
00:22:22:11 – 00:22:25:02
And then we’re going to talk about that. And like, say your body said this.
00:22:25:04 – 00:22:28:03
Yeah.
00:22:28:05 – 00:22:52:17
And like there’s there’s so many different directions and we say it’s an art because if we just give someone what they want and we neglect the need, we’re going to run into a huge lawsuit more than in most cases, it’s internal. Right. But on the other side, if we only attend to what someone needs and they don’t at least feel like it’s connected to what they want, yeah, we’re never going to get the buying when they’ll be here long enough to see the results.
00:22:52:19 – 00:22:54:03
Yeah, exactly. So
00:22:54:05 – 00:22:55:10
it is like a
00:22:55:14 – 00:22:56:00
constant,
00:22:56:00 – 00:23:02:03
like ebb and flow of, like okay, how do you feel about where we’re at right now and you know on that. So
00:23:02:03 – 00:23:10:09
it can be challenging, but that’s also what makes it fun for us. Right. And and that’s why I like how detailed we can. And we’ll get the people
00:23:10:13 – 00:23:13:12
we’re able to switch this load even on that day.
00:23:13:12 – 00:23:27:18
Right. We have I’m sure you guys have had it where you come in one day. It’s like, how are you feeling? It doesn’t matter what the answer is like. That may change. Like, okay, this is the plan I had today, but because you feel this way. All right. Maybe let’s shift this direction.
00:23:27:20 – 00:23:29:02
Yeah. Whether it’s
00:23:29:03 – 00:23:32:07
we’re going off the cuff and just having fun or it’s like, hey, maybe we should tone it down.
00:23:32:08 – 00:23:33:21
Like, today’s not one of those days.
00:23:33:23 – 00:23:48:22
Yeah, I know, let’s hop on the same. Yeah, it does, it does. And, and they always make the right adjustments every time. Yeah. And I’m like, thank you. Like, you know, because it’s it’s hard to say. Yeah. It’s hard to say, hey I’m not feeling it today or this, this really hurts.
00:23:48:22 – 00:23:53:12
Like you have a lot of we have a lot of pride in. And I think though to be able to trust.
00:23:53:12 – 00:23:55:07
Them and say, hey,
00:23:55:07 – 00:24:03:18
it’s I’m not feeling it today that, that you know, that’s, that’s big for me to give up and then for them to be able to lead me in the right direction after that, that’s that’s huge for me.
00:24:03:23 – 00:24:08:02
And those are the days that oftentimes naturally people say like, oh, I’m just going to skip today.
00:24:08:04 – 00:24:08:13
Yeah.
00:24:08:15 – 00:24:11:08
And we just try and run for like, look, just don’t skip.
00:24:11:14 – 00:24:12:00
Yeah, right.
00:24:12:00 – 00:24:22:05
Like we will meet you where you’re at, even if that’s completely different from where we thought we were going to take that day. If that’s the best way to make sure that you leave feeling better than when you came in, that’s what we’re going to do.
00:24:22:10 – 00:24:22:17
Yeah,
00:24:22:23 – 00:24:24:03
and that’s okay. Yeah.
00:24:24:05 – 00:24:28:21
I came in yesterday and did not want to work out in the morning, and I had the best workout
00:24:28:23 – 00:24:30:00
ever. And I was like,
00:24:30:00 – 00:24:35:08
I just elevated me. I went to work and I was like, okay, we got this. We could do today.
00:24:35:10 – 00:24:38:09
do that personally. And I remind you, like, those are huge win days.
00:24:38:12 – 00:24:56:05
Those are actually better to me than the days and come and you’re like, okay, I’m going to get after it. Yeah. Because we just completely change the trajectory, right? Whether it’s your goals and your body changes. We went from, okay, so your things are going well and then you have this moment where you thought like, oh, I’m not really doing today.
00:24:56:07 – 00:24:57:09
Yeah. Right.
00:24:57:11 – 00:25:01:20
And that’s a hinge point where it can be like, oh, you know what? I’m just going to take the day off.
00:25:02:00 – 00:25:02:09
Yes.
00:25:02:09 – 00:25:13:20
And then we go negative in that case, right. We we do nothing or we show up. And even if it’s not the way that we thought, we continue this pathway. And the reality is nothing stays the same.
00:25:13:20 – 00:25:17:18
It’s not like it just levels out. We’re either going backwards or we’re going forwards.
00:25:17:20 – 00:25:18:13
Yeah.
00:25:18:15 – 00:25:21:10
So we’re right. It nothing stays the same.
00:25:21:12 – 00:25:22:20
So either. Yeah
00:25:22:22 – 00:25:30:16
the difference between that is not just like, oh I took one day off like that. One day off might actually take you two days to reverse the backward step that you took.
00:25:30:17 – 00:25:31:07
Yeah.
00:25:31:07 – 00:25:36:17
So like I always think about that on the days that I don’t want to do something like that. Okay. I’m sorry. Do something.
00:25:36:19 – 00:25:37:05
Yes.
00:25:37:09 – 00:25:38:12
I’ve never regretted it.
00:25:38:16 – 00:25:39:07
Yeah, yeah. You
00:25:39:07 – 00:25:43:04
don’t have to have the best workout every time. No, like it’s fine.
00:25:43:06 – 00:25:44:05
You just have to show up. You
00:25:44:05 – 00:25:45:10
show up? Yeah.
00:25:45:16 – 00:25:47:01
I think that’s big too, because there.
00:25:47:03 – 00:25:49:12
Yeah, I think that’s a huge part of the
00:25:49:15 – 00:25:51:15
commitment. Part of this is like,
00:25:51:15 – 00:25:52:13
I mean an appointment.
00:25:52:13 – 00:25:53:10
I got a time,
00:25:53:10 – 00:25:54:18
I got to be there
00:25:54:20 – 00:26:05:23
and I think and getting you’re getting yourself to do that part because I think any time you just schedule going to the gym or something, you can be like, oh, I’m going to go and then I am not going to go or I’m going to go in an hour.
00:26:06:01 – 00:26:16:16
You know what I mean? But having the time set and being like, I, I own this lot,
00:26:16:18 – 00:26:20:14
yeah, I was feeling it today, but I’m going to show up
00:26:20:14 – 00:26:24:16
and, you know, and doing it together makes it even more like,
00:26:24:16 – 00:26:27:19
we’re showing up together, like we’re going to do this like we’re we got this.
00:26:27:19 – 00:26:28:03
And
00:26:28:05 – 00:26:35:04
because it would be easy for one of us to be like, hey, do you want out? You out? So it’s accountability. Yes, it is total accountability. Yeah.
00:26:35:06 – 00:26:43:15
And that’s like there’s so much research on like accountability with another person. Right. And that’s usually like where having a trainer.
00:26:43:16 – 00:26:46:04
There is so much natural accountability.
00:26:46:06 – 00:26:46:21
Built in.
00:26:47:08 – 00:26:50:22
It is so hard to not show up and to fail.
00:26:50:22 – 00:26:51:20
Right? Yeah.
00:26:51:22 – 00:26:59:06
You have also different relationship dynamics that can come into play when it’s not a good day. It’s not a good month.
00:26:59:17 – 00:27:00:14
Season or whatever.
00:27:01:07 – 00:27:06:21
That was one of the things that I remember loving so much about the discovery session with you guys,
00:27:06:21 – 00:27:11:03
I always ask when couples come in like, okay, have we had the talk?
00:27:12:19 – 00:27:18:02
Have you guys sat down and talked about, is this something that we’re intentionally coming together
00:27:18:04 – 00:27:25:13
or is this something okay, we’re doing at the same time, but we’re not coming here at the same time. And right away you guys are like, oh, no, we’re doing it together.
00:27:26:03 – 00:27:28:12
I was like, okay, that’s super cool. You
00:27:28:23 – 00:27:32:16
already knew that and you guys have done that for years.
00:27:32:18 – 00:27:38:08
The other part that I remember, because this is the other times when I say, okay, now level two of the talk is
00:27:38:10 – 00:27:50:10
have you guys talked about like, do you guys want to be like away from each other while you’re here? Or do you guys want to be next to each other because it’s like a bonding thing. And again, you’re like, no, like we like doing this.
00:27:50:12 – 00:27:51:14
And I’m like, yeah,
00:27:51:16 – 00:27:52:13
that says a lot
00:27:52:17 – 00:27:53:04
about you
00:27:53:04 – 00:28:04:13
guys relationship. And like again, like when fitness or just taking care of yourself is just a part of your relationship dynamics. And we are as
00:28:04:21 – 00:28:08:08
family unit. It changes so much.
00:28:08:19 – 00:28:19:01
we’ve been a team for a long time. So everything that we’ve done in our life since I was 15 or 16 has been doing it together and being a team because that for us is our foundation.
00:28:19:01 – 00:28:20:21
Yeah, we, we’ve learned,
00:28:20:22 – 00:28:21:17
a lot about,
00:28:21:17 – 00:28:29:08
just being us learning like we were kids when we went out on the world by ourselves. Yeah. So, like a workout, you know, it ain’t going to,
00:28:29:10 – 00:28:36:01
I’ve never been like, hey, do it this way, do this, do that. We’ve always been like, you do your workout and I do mine.
00:28:36:03 – 00:28:51:15
And it’s just like, good job. You know, it’s kind of more like that than it. And that it never was me being like, oh, you’re doing that wrong. Yeah. You’re doing terrible. Like it was never. I don’t even, you know, and now it’s awesome because, you know, we’re right next to each other. We got to complete opposite workouts,
00:28:51:17 – 00:28:53:19
and it’s just like a good job.
00:28:53:21 – 00:28:55:13
Good job. Like, get at it.
00:28:55:15 – 00:28:57:01
It’s cool because the
00:28:57:01 – 00:29:01:16
the neurotransmitter side of what happens when we’re exercising as far as like the feel good chemicals,
00:29:02:03 – 00:29:25:09
The dopamine that kind of stuff that already happens when you work out on your own. But then also when you add in the relationship layer to it, it puts those on another level, like, and you could say whether it’s working out, like doing something hard together or something that’s uncomfortable together, like that’s why you see, like all of these teams, whether it’s sports teams or I’m sure like fire is you do these hard things together.
00:29:25:10 – 00:29:26:01
Yeah.
00:29:26:03 – 00:29:28:12
Because when you do hard things together, everybody gets
00:29:28:12 – 00:29:30:22
a higher raise. It builds a camaraderie.
00:29:30:22 – 00:29:34:00
Yeah, like that strengthens relationships.
00:29:34:02 – 00:29:38:22
Even if that’s not actually the intention. Right. Yeah. So it’s such a cool thing to see.
00:29:39:04 – 00:29:40:01
It’s therapeutic.
00:29:40:11 – 00:29:45:06
It’s part of I think our therapy and our bonding and our growing together.
00:29:45:06 – 00:29:46:04
we have to do it.
00:29:46:06 – 00:29:50:10
It’s just something that we, we knew from the onset. And it carried back into
00:29:50:10 – 00:29:52:08
now. And so we have to do it.
00:29:52:08 – 00:29:53:11
the cool thing like when I
00:29:53:11 – 00:30:00:13
go through it, I think, hey did you guys have the talk and all that? It doesn’t even matter what the answers are. The important thing is that we understand these are the expectations for every.
00:30:01:09 – 00:30:02:03
And to
00:30:02:04 – 00:30:03:00
in our setting.
00:30:03:04 – 00:30:08:05
love that you guys can both be right next to each other at the same time.
00:30:08:09 – 00:30:09:11
Working out together.
00:30:09:15 – 00:30:11:19
But your focus on you and your focus on you.
00:30:12:03 – 00:30:17:03
you have these things that are really important and that are better for you to spend at times, and then you have your own right
00:30:17:20 – 00:30:22:15
instead
00:30:22:15 – 00:30:29:11
of like the traditional thing is like, okay, it’s the whatever class.
00:30:22:15 – 00:30:29:11
Everybody’s doing the same thing. It’s like you guys doing it together, but it may not actually be or get you the results that you’re looking for.
00:30:29:16 – 00:30:30:07
Yeah, yeah,
00:30:30:10 – 00:30:39:12
you’re still getting some of it. And that’s why it’s so fun to to be able to see that. And I also think it’s better because I like you’re doing it wrong.
00:30:39:14 – 00:30:40:16
Yeah. Leave
00:30:40:16 – 00:30:48:00
It’s ideal because we did we did go to the gym together, but we would workout completely separate because he did his workouts, I did mine.
00:30:48:02 – 00:30:54:14
Now we’re working out side by side doing completely different workouts. But I could watch him and be like, oh my gosh, that’s so cool. You did so great.
00:30:54:18 – 00:31:00:06
Like watching him progress and then he can see what I’m doing as well. But we’re totally committed and focused on
00:31:00:08 – 00:31:01:07
two different programs,
00:31:01:07 – 00:31:05:05
two different, you know, mindsets. But yeah, we could share each other on
00:31:05:21 – 00:31:15:07
in your line of work, right. Your business owner attorney, both of those at the same time are managing people.
00:31:15:09 – 00:31:23:08
How has this affected those? Right. The the demands on your life right. And say like from a performance standpoint.
00:31:23:10 – 00:31:27:07
So this is one of my favorite things to talk about because I didn’t know this was going to happen
00:31:27:22 – 00:31:37:06
when I started working out with you in your gym, I thought that it was going to be for Sam and I that this was totally to make our life better, make us healthier.
00:31:37:11 – 00:31:40:20
What I did not know was going to happen was that it was going to make me
00:31:40:20 – 00:31:54:20
a better business owner, a better attorney for my clients. So that transformation was crazy for me because I, I am an employment law attorney. I represent employees, they come to me with their
00:31:54:20 – 00:31:58:16
lowest of the low, worst problems. I mean, they’re defeated.
00:31:58:16 – 00:32:01:09
They’re going through hard times. I have to take that on for that.
00:32:01:17 – 00:32:02:07
that’s my job.
00:32:02:07 – 00:32:08:02
I have to take that on. I have to be their champion. I have to be the person that takes them through this journey.
00:32:08:02 – 00:32:14:00
and it’s emotionally draining and physically draining. And so working out with you and coming here,
00:32:14:00 – 00:32:15:09
I’m working out with my coaches.
00:32:15:09 – 00:32:22:08
It built me. It made me stronger. It made me thrive. And so it makes me a better boss. It makes me a better attorney.
00:32:22:10 – 00:32:31:12
So do you feel like it’s more become like an outlet for the stuff you’re taking on, or do you feel like, just say resiliency and energy clarity?
00:32:31:16 – 00:32:36:18
Both. So I think it’s an outlet. So for those hard days I get to come here and work it off.
00:32:36:18 – 00:32:38:20
But it also gives me the
00:32:38:22 – 00:32:39:13
energy,
00:32:39:14 – 00:32:42:08
perseverance, the resilience, the things that you need to
00:32:42:11 – 00:32:43:04
be good at your job.
00:32:43:06 – 00:32:44:00
And the strength
00:32:44:00 – 00:32:47:18
and then just feeling good about yourself. It’s going to translate into your job.
00:32:47:18 – 00:32:49:06
Is it hard for you to turn it off at home.
00:32:49:10 – 00:32:49:23
Yes.
00:32:50:09 – 00:32:52:08
But I have to because I love my family. Yeah.
00:32:52:11 – 00:33:02:08
she does a good job of turning it off. And you gotta, you gotta, you gotta turn it tuner down. You gotta take to it. Yeah. You gotta go a little bit at a time. But you can’t just be like yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:33:02:08 – 00:33:03:19
Not her. Yeah
00:33:03:21 – 00:33:09:07
I ask because the cool thing about it’s like, you can’t be on your phone and do this at the same time.
00:33:09:21 – 00:33:11:03
Can’t even have an awareness.
00:33:11:17 – 00:33:18:09
because we know like we get a notification that pops up like it’s still in there even if you’re like, okay, I’m not going to attend to that right now.
00:33:18:11 – 00:33:23:01
It’s still there. Right? Like the rest of life is away. Like there’s nothing else you can.
00:33:23:08 – 00:33:26:23
it’s on right now. So I was I was curious like
00:33:27:23 – 00:33:30:22
Especially you, because you’re you’re generally coming right afterwards.
00:33:31:02 – 00:33:36:12
Yes. Yeah, yeah. I come straight from my office, straight to here or I’ll start here and then go to work,
00:33:36:21 – 00:33:37:18
which
00:33:37:18 – 00:33:44:05
I actually love.
00:33:44:13 – 00:33:53:15
Okay. Tell me about, your your coaches experience. What coaches do you work with? What do you like and dislike about, and all that?
00:33:53:17 – 00:33:54:07
I have
00:33:54:09 – 00:33:56:03
great coach experiences.
00:33:56:05 – 00:34:00:20
I went from, having a female Alex writing my programs,
00:34:00:20 – 00:34:08:15
to now. Carlos. Right. My programs and I work most. I work out mostly with Carlos. So he knows me. He knows my body.
00:34:08:15 – 00:34:09:12
He knows what I can do.
00:34:09:15 – 00:34:12:14
He knows what I. He knows what I can do more than I do.
00:34:12:14 – 00:34:14:10
And so now he wrote my program.
00:34:14:21 – 00:34:18:06
yesterday I was like, I had the best workout because he knows me. Yeah.
00:34:18:06 – 00:34:19:11
And I love it.
00:34:19:13 – 00:34:28:17
and I mean, I could say a lot about all of them. Coach Maria I just look at her and I’m like, I’m going to kill it today because you’re here. Like, I just want to be good for her.
00:34:28:19 – 00:34:30:08
that part is so fun of like
00:34:30:08 – 00:34:31:09
because we can see.
00:34:31:11 – 00:34:44:23
Right. And a lot of that’s experience because most of us been in for a long time. Like we can see when you have more in you deciding like the right time and place. Right to like sneak that in it. Sometimes it it sometimes it literally is just sneaking it in like, hey, we’re going to be here.
00:34:45:17 – 00:34:46:05
you,
00:34:46:07 – 00:34:48:21
yes, you will notice. Yes. Because
00:34:48:21 – 00:34:49:21
mentally that makes a difference.
00:34:49:21 – 00:34:50:06
Yes.
00:34:50:12 – 00:34:53:23
Hey, we’re going to make it heavier. You’re like, oh man, can I do that?
00:34:54:12 – 00:34:57:00
like change the pattern, change the way and
00:34:57:02 – 00:35:01:23
yeah, yeah. Balance. Yeah. And then you have, you have a coach like Liz and Tasha and
00:35:01:23 – 00:35:05:21
their route and you on and cheering for you, like literally
00:35:05:23 – 00:35:09:15
How are you going to how are you going to have that day. How are you going to not do your best with that.
00:35:09:15 – 00:35:10:09
everybody is
00:35:10:09 – 00:35:11:07
fully invested
00:35:11:07 – 00:35:13:08
in seeing you succeed.
00:35:13:11 – 00:35:14:21
Yes. Good. That’s
00:35:14:23 – 00:35:16:14
like that’s the win for us.
00:35:16:23 – 00:35:21:21
When we when we see the review or you tell us right. You can do this thing like.
00:35:22:03 – 00:35:23:19
Yes. That’s it
00:35:23:21 – 00:35:26:08
I think it’s funny because
00:35:26:08 – 00:35:27:05
you come in,
00:35:27:07 – 00:35:32:15
you know, and and you’re, you know, I’m definitely older than these guys. Yeah. And I just kind of laugh and,
00:35:32:15 – 00:35:37:14
they how they learn your personality, you know, because sometimes they’re kind of like looking at me like, oh, God, what kind of mood
00:35:37:14 – 00:35:57:06
Is Sam in? And against the morning. They know I ain’t talking like that. I ain’t talking like I ain’t going to talk to you. You might say a couple words, but, you know, I think it’s cool how they, you know, they start learning your personality. They learn, you know, your needs and, and your behaviors. And I think, like, like Carlos can, like, see me, like, all of a sudden you’ll hear something.
00:35:57:06 – 00:36:08:16
I’m like, where were you even at? And he’s like, suck it in. Or do this or tighten this. He was like, man, how do you see that? Like, you know, so I think it’s really cool. And then how they all work together, you know. Yeah, some of them are,
00:36:08:16 – 00:36:10:19
you know, like, Carlos is pretty just low key.
00:36:10:21 – 00:36:29:15
And then you got boy who’s like, let’s do it. Yeah. And then high energy. You know, Marie is the ultimate cheerleader. And then Lizzie and Natasha is awesome because they’re learning and and they’re all in. Yeah. And, and like you said, all they want you to do is, is succeed. And and there’s more coaches. I, I might have missed some, but those are the ones I usually deal with the most.
00:36:29:19 – 00:36:31:16
And, it’s just fun. It’s fun.
00:36:31:16 – 00:36:32:17
It’s a fun environment.
00:36:33:12 – 00:36:34:19
know, it’s my favorite is
00:36:34:19 – 00:36:39:08
they all know their stuff. And that’s huge to me. You know, they’re not just spitting stuff out,
00:36:39:14 – 00:36:44:13
you know, it’s like, all right, you know what you talking about? Like, you know, your thing is good. And I appreciate that.
00:36:44:13 – 00:36:47:07
And I and I can appreciate that versus,
00:36:47:07 – 00:36:48:06
you know, trying to be like,
00:36:48:06 – 00:36:55:17
well, why is this this way or why this is why I’m like, no, I believe that in you educated, you did it. Now teach me what you what you learned. So
00:36:55:17 – 00:37:01:23
That’s one thing that I’ve learned as we as we’ve grown and have more people joining a team,
00:37:02:03 – 00:37:07:18
how much the personality set matters and their adaptability.
00:37:07:19 – 00:37:08:19
But the reality that,
00:37:08:19 – 00:37:12:00
like, say, Carlos and Moy have very different temperaments
00:37:12:02 – 00:37:18:00
we can all shift that temperament a little bit. But just naturally, like the diversity that we have there,
00:37:18:00 – 00:37:21:10
we have different people that will gravitate towards and feel more motivated
00:37:21:10 – 00:37:22:01
by certain.
00:37:23:00 – 00:37:26:20
And it’s like we don’t just want let’s go. Just like, yeah, you can
00:37:26:20 – 00:37:27:09
do it.
00:37:27:11 – 00:37:32:10
There’s some days where like, yeah, leave me alone, okay?
00:37:32:12 – 00:37:35:14
There’s somebody to be happy, okay? There’s some people that are just like,
00:37:35:16 – 00:37:38:14
I don’t want like I have actually one of those, like, I don’t want a cheerleader.
00:37:38:16 – 00:37:40:05
Just tell me what to do.
00:37:40:07 – 00:37:41:14
Like, I don’t need. I don’t need
00:37:41:14 – 00:37:42:12
that. Yeah.
00:37:42:13 – 00:37:43:08
You know, but,
00:37:43:10 – 00:37:44:13
we do have a lot of things that like
00:37:44:18 – 00:37:45:07
some people do.
00:37:45:08 – 00:37:46:11
Yeah.
00:37:46:13 – 00:37:50:04
And it’s and that’s the part like. Yeah. Like why we do the discovery session first.
00:37:50:04 – 00:38:06:17
let’s get to know this person. I understand how they work, what makes them tick, what is like was the first thing that’s going to make them run away. Like what’s failed in the past? How can we build this so that it’s fit for you and can make sure that we’re aware of the things that might get in the way?
00:38:06:17 – 00:38:08:10
We can take care of?
00:38:08:18 – 00:38:11:09
I really appreciated the discovery session because
00:38:11:09 – 00:38:22:18
I didn’t know what your process was or how you did it. I just saw her coming in and working out. Yeah, and that discovery session was the start of it. And you need it because
00:38:22:18 – 00:38:24:11
how are you going to train me if you don’t know where I’m at?
00:38:24:18 – 00:38:27:05
yeah, totally. All makes sense now. That’s why I was kind of like,
00:38:27:05 – 00:38:27:15
why am I
00:38:27:15 – 00:38:32:23
touching this thing? And I got a plastic pipe and I got this thing behind my neck, and I’m like, what are we doing?
00:38:33:04 – 00:38:33:23
and now that I
00:38:33:23 – 00:38:35:01
can touch my toes and
00:38:35:03 – 00:38:37:09
do all these flexible things, I’m like, oh, I don’t make sense.
00:38:37:09 – 00:38:40:03
Now. They’re, you know, so it’s cool. It’s cool. And see that
00:38:40:06 – 00:38:46:15
most of the fitness industry for, it’s usually for the reason of sales takes a very different approach.
00:38:46:17 – 00:38:47:06
And
00:38:47:09 – 00:38:51:05
it works from a sales and a psychological standpoint in a lot of cases.
00:38:51:18 – 00:38:52:16
But our stance is
00:38:52:16 – 00:38:54:04
if you really know the body,
00:38:54:06 – 00:38:57:03
can’t unknow the impact that you’re going to have on people.
00:38:57:14 – 00:39:03:16
And it’s the reality that someone is literally saying, here’s my body, change it, fix it, make it better.
00:39:04:00 – 00:39:06:05
And if you don’t know what you’re working with,
00:39:06:05 – 00:39:08:00
a lot of bad things can happen. So
00:39:08:03 – 00:39:08:23
in our eyes, like
00:39:09:01 – 00:39:14:06
it is, it’s actually dangerous and reckless. If the first day you come in. All right.
00:39:14:11 – 00:39:15:00
Let’s go.
00:39:15:05 – 00:39:16:03
You know,
00:39:16:05 – 00:39:18:14
lift this thing I like. I don’t know, maybe I don’t know. You
00:39:18:14 – 00:39:19:13
thought
00:39:19:15 – 00:39:21:05
there’s a lot of bad things that can happen.
00:39:21:05 – 00:39:23:02
Yeah. Oh, I would have been hurt.
00:39:23:12 – 00:39:26:17
yeah, because I would have thought I could do some things I could not do. Yeah, yeah.
00:39:26:19 – 00:39:27:12
Or even,
00:39:27:12 – 00:39:30:08
the approach that you take with that person the way that, you know, a bad person.
00:39:30:08 – 00:39:41:15
Right. Like you mentioned the first time coming in like it’s like, oh, I know that this is change. Like, yeah. Let people acclimate. Yeah. To a new environment.
00:39:41:17 – 00:39:42:06
Yeah. And then
00:39:42:06 – 00:39:45:05
also take the time to figure out
00:39:45:07 – 00:39:45:15
who is
00:39:45:15 – 00:39:51:10
this person because they’re not this person is not this number of pounds. They’re not this goal. Like
00:39:51:21 – 00:39:53:02
there’s all these things
00:39:53:20 – 00:40:01:23
that make a difference in whether this is a, a week long thing or a month long thing or a year long thing like it makes a difference.
00:40:01:23 – 00:40:05:09
enjoy it because I get the benefit.
00:40:05:11 – 00:40:06:18
I’ve done like a thousand of them.
00:40:06:18 – 00:40:11:23
every time I sit down with someone, I’ve already met that person before. Like having these conversations I can already see,
00:40:12:04 – 00:40:15:09
after we’re having a conversation, I can already see you in three months. And it’s
00:40:15:10 – 00:40:16:00
like, oh,
00:40:16:00 – 00:40:16:12
a year.
00:40:16:20 – 00:40:22:05
It’s like, okay, I know it’s going to be. And this is more I know this is the right coach for you. And yeah, like
00:40:22:05 – 00:40:25:00
the old school. So you put the puzzle together? Yes.
00:40:25:01 – 00:40:28:14
Anything else you guys want to share? Any questions you have for me?
00:40:28:16 – 00:40:32:08
I think that the most important thing that I would like to share with you,
00:40:32:08 – 00:40:33:13
and I’ve told you this before,
00:40:33:13 – 00:40:34:12
is that
00:40:34:12 – 00:40:35:23
it has changed our life
00:40:36:11 – 00:40:37:09
And
00:40:37:09 – 00:40:48:07
I said that we’re in our favorite air. We found a lot of errors together. And it’s part because we have our grandbaby. We love our grandbaby, but it’s because of our health journey
00:40:48:09 – 00:40:53:15
I do not think we would be in this place if it wasn’t for us coming and committing to this.
00:40:53:17 – 00:40:54:11
And so I thank you.
00:40:54:15 – 00:40:55:18
Thank you. Yeah,
00:40:55:19 – 00:40:58:22
yeah, yeah. I’m along the same lines of that. That’s,
00:40:58:22 – 00:41:01:20
I didn’t know how many things it would change for me,
00:41:01:22 – 00:41:05:23
honestly. And, I just thought I was going to work out and just be like, oh, that’s.
00:41:05:23 – 00:41:16:12
But on, like, everything’s our communication, our my sleep, my eating habits, all those things, you know, mental health, like it changes a lot of things when you just
00:41:16:12 – 00:41:21:23
you, you start doing this and, and I think it’s, it was, it was huge for me and it came at the right time.
00:41:22:01 – 00:41:25:23
then we got blessed with our granddaughter and yeah, now we don’t complain about
00:41:25:23 – 00:41:26:15
being sore.
00:41:26:16 – 00:41:30:02
It’s just like, yeah, we can walk around with this 15 pounder all day long.
00:41:30:14 – 00:41:39:05
So yeah, yeah. I appreciate, you know, like your, your program and I appreciate your coaches and everything.
00:41:39:08 – 00:41:41:13
think that we definitely made a
00:41:41:13 – 00:41:49:15
a great decision. And we made it together and and we keep going. Mental health is so important. And exercise plays into mental health.
00:41:49:15 – 00:41:50:23
Yes. And
00:41:51:18 – 00:41:52:18
a healthy husband back.
00:41:52:18 – 00:41:54:01
I’m grateful.
00:41:54:03 – 00:41:54:13
Yeah. Like
00:41:54:13 – 00:41:59:16
we don’t take it lightly. Like we know it’s it’s a lot. Right. To commit the time.
00:42:00:00 – 00:42:01:07
Nothing else. Just the time.
00:42:01:15 – 00:42:11:08
Right. And the energy too. So like, we’re so thankful that we get the opportunity to play that role. And we know, again, like the trickle effects of people that you work with.
00:42:11:10 – 00:42:12:03
Families.
00:42:12:17 – 00:42:13:11
So
00:42:14:16 – 00:42:14:23
Thank you.
00:42:15:01 – 00:42:23:07
and getting compliments isn’t that thing. Yeah. Yeah. On your buff legs on my buff legs. Yeah. Yeah. You been working out?
00:42:23:09 – 00:42:26:10
Hey. Yeah.
